Can I drink coffee or tea during fasting?

You can drink moderate amounts of black coffee during fasting periods, as it contains very few calories and is unlikely to break your fast. In fact, coffee may enhance the benefits of intermittent fasting, which include reduced inflammation and improved brain function.

Are there any recommended strategies to stay hydrated during fasting?

First of all, estimating your fluid needs - experts recommend healthy adults drink 30–35 mL of water per kg of body weight to start and then adjust from there. You’ll want to increase fluid intake if you exercise while fasting, if you live in a high-temperature environment, or if you’re taking any medications that require extra fluids.

What are the potential health benefits of intermittent fasting?

Thinking and memory. Studies discovered that intermittent fasting boosts working memory in animals and verbal memory in adult humans.

Most of the available research shows that intermittent fasting can help people lose body weight and lower their levels of fasting glucose, fasting insulin and leptin while reducing insulin resistance, decreasing levels of leptin and increasing levels of adiponectin.
